Melitsa Asks About Networking

Continuing our cross-blog conversation with Melitsa from Play-Activities check out her answers to my questions before you  read on.

I am so impressed with you Melitsa. You have  a niche that you really enjoy and is important to you.  Not only are you doing something you love but you have found other avenues that will help those interested in your niche.  I love that you are using radio and gathering podcasts that apply to parenting.  I am an avid listener of podcasts and I hope to start a podcast some day in my niche.  Your blog is very resourceful for parents!

I have been having such a great time reading your answers and learning more about you! You did a great job answering that last question.  Bam radio and the Carnival of podcast have really complimented your blog!

Melitsa asked me:

How important do you see friendships and networking in achieving success in (your) business?

I see friendships and networking as very important, even essential!  In my previous adventures in business I didn’t actively pursue friendships or use networking.  I really feel as I build my blog that no success will happen without building relationships with others.  This is not always easy for me.  I am someone that is very independent and tend to want to do everything myself.  As I have gotten older I have realized that I need help and I can’t do it all.  Having four children and running a business quickly cured me of doing it all by myself.

I have really enjoyed the relationship I have built doing this internship.  I have friends I can rely on to give me their honest opinion and help me when I have a question.  I have also really benefited from doing blog Memes! That is how I found you a few months ago!  Through these memes I have found people that I care about and worry about.  I never expected that to happen!  I know that in the future these friendships may open up opportunities to joint ventures.  Also, Mom Mastermind has been a great place to connect with other mom’s.  Having success in my business is very much centered around learning from these women and applying these things to my business.

Here is my question for you Melitsa: What do you think has contributed most to your success?  For someone getting started what would you recommend they do first?
