Study Up on Sweepstakes

When I first began entering giveaways many moons ago, I looked for books to read to learn about the ins and outs of doing things right.  I am a big book junkie and so if I start anything new I look for a book to teach me how to do it!  In my search I didn’t really find anything.  The only things I found were old and a bit out-dated.  So I was really out of luck.  Since then there have been a few books that have come out that are so informative.  Not only are they informative but they are from the Contest Queen and the Sweepstakes King!

The Sweepstakes King is Steve Ledoux.  He wrote the book How to win Lotteries, Sweepstakes, and Contests in the 21st Century.  Steve published this book about five years ago.  Around the time that I got started.  I didn’t find this book until a few years later.  I checked it out at the library and I learned a bunch.  This book is mainly geared towards those that are entering giveaways off-line.  Steve shares great tips on how to enter the way a pro enters!

The Contest Queen is Carolyn Wilman. Carolyn is a Canadian and in Canada the really don’t have off-line giveaways.  Almost all of the contests and sweepstakes that are sponsored in Canada are on the internet.  Her book You Can’t Win Unless You Enter is very thorough.  It was published just one year ago in May of 2008.  It is very up to date.  She covers details about taxes, newsletters, software to use in entering and even interviews marketers that run giveaways.  This is a book that I keep on hand and refer to it often! Carolyn also wrote a Canadian edition to this book that covers what you need to know about entering giveaways in Canada. I have only read the American edition.  Carolyn  is also working on a new book.  So look for a new book coming out within the next year or two from her.

I would recommend you read both of these books to help you in your hobby of entering giveaways.  They will give you insights that you may not have considered and possibly help to increase your chances of winning! There are many older books out there that could give you more insight into the history of sweepstakes. I choose to read the current books that will give me up-to-date information!
